A friend of mine asked me to rip this album as he could not find the digital copy anywhere. I reckon I'll just share with you all.

I found that record in a second hand record shop. But side 2 was full of scratches. In the end I ended up taking the intimate stranger's "charm" x and the gruppo sportivo's "modern design"

Thanks for share mate!

AJWAVE,

I didn't like them that much in the 80s. I thought they were cheesy :D

I thought the same when they released their albums (I barely knew 2 singles). But after a long time I started to appreciate his music even though the lyrics could be very cheese. His latest album "burn it" was a radical departure from his salsa-oriented sound. They were very popular in Japan, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela.

I have their "Burn It" album as well. Have not played it for many years. Might put a spin on it soon.

There is a ROIO release of BURN IT, with this tracklist:

Keep A Candle Burning 3:33
That's What Friends Are For 3:33
I'll Always Remember You 3:44
Burn It! 6:46
That's Entertainment 4:08
Take Another Look 4:55
Burn It! 7" Mix 3:41
Move On 12" Version 4:54
Stranger Days 4:12
Burn It! Reprise 0:55
That's What Friends Are For US Remix 5:55
Abraham, Martin & John 2:58
(Blame My) Jealousy 3:51
Move On 3:35
Come On 4:09
Burn It! Dub Mix 7:25
That's What Friends Are For Dub Mix 4:48

9 tracks (of 10) are from the original album, the origin of the rest is unclear. The ROIO origin is mystical too, Discogs does not know it.

I'm surprised Burn It! was never officially on CD but was reissued digitally a while back. iTunes UK has the full length album plus the bonus tracks to sample. Sounds remastered to me. I'm hoping Cherry Red will gather up Modern Romance's entire back catalogue in a boxset one day.

I bought Burn It from Itunes. It's available to hear on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and Deezer

Glad to see Modern Romances making a kind of a small comeback to our community.
I, for one, think that they full deserve it.

First discovered them in 1983.g. with the classic like Dont Stop That Crazy Rhythm.
Just loved that John DuPrez wonderful trumpet.
Afterwards, a great ballad Walking In The Rain that really showcases that Mullins was a much better singer that Deane,
especially wonderful is the "blues version" on the 12".

Went back to the earlier singles, which were equally as addictive,
but what struck me the most was the debut LP Adventures in Clubland.
The album that flows together like no other.

Didnt care much for the change of style on Burn It! but I guess the latin groove has its five minutes of fame,
or in the case of Modern Romance, almost two full years is more like it.

The three studio albums deserve a proper remaster edition or maybe release a more complete compilation featuring rare or japan only tracks (i.e. Juanita)

Trick Of The Light(1983) needs to be reissued. Cherry Red were going to release it along with Adventures in Clubland a few years back but then at the last minute it got cancelled according to Facebook. Their remaster of Adventures In Clubland wasn't too bad though.
