REQ: One 2 Many "Downtown" UK 3" CDS

Postby Fred Taghon » Tue Jun 27, 2023 11:03 pm

The sound of the German CD-Single "Downtown" by One 2 Many is pretty muffled, so I'm curious if someone out there might have this UK CD-Single to share a FLAC rip of:

https://www.discogs.com/release/2216671 ... y-Downtown

There's no information given regarding track times for this 3trk CDS, but Track 1 credits say it's remixed by Adam Moseley, and only the Extended Version was mixed by him, so I'm hoping Track 1 on this UK CDS is the 6:41 Extended Version. And if it is, I'm hoping the sound quality of this UK release is far better than the German issue.

Thanks for any help or information!

I have the cd but unfortunately it has gone to the ‘not working as it’s a bronzed PDO pressed’ cd in the sky pile. However I can confirm the track 1 mix of Downtown is 6,43 and the whole cd is timed at 15,36.

Isn’t it the same mix as the one on the blue cover UK cd reissue cdee 476 from 1989? That is mixed by Adam Moseley. It looks like the ‘Austria’ one on Discogs but it certainly isn’t as I bought it in April/May 1989.

Thank you for confirming that track 1 is indeed the extended version.
The 1989 reissue in the blue cover has 4trks but the extended version is track 2 on that one. Discogs says it's from Austria but the UPC looks like a UK code so I think you're right on that. And in that case, THAT CD would probably do just as well. I was initially worried that since the tracklisting is the same as the German CD single, that it may have the same mastering. But if it is indeed a UK release, it is likely a different (and more often than not) better sounding mastering than the German one. Hope all that jibberish makes sense.
