15 is the consequtive number of the band within the list of bands with the same name

Sorry can't help you Rissan (as usual)... besides bumping this post to the top to be seen more.

But Uvox brings up a interesting point... how does Discogs assign numbers... I imagine it is just by who applies for the name first and then later bands get higher numbers. One would think some of the more popular bands get first dibs on a lower number, and the more obscure get entered later and thus a higher number. Does popularity play into the system at Discogs, sometimes you noticed a popular band name with numbers being skipped (did Discogs later consolidate the names and just delete that number)... we see some compilation lps with bands listed, that sometimes we can't even determine if they are another group or not.

That record features a singer called "Jewel"... but the famous singer we know would have to just be a kid (15-16y/o or so) at the time.

The interesting part of my example, is discogs links the "written by" section to the famous "Jewel" as if it was the same person...

I suppose on "First come first served" basis. The database is filled by the labels, enthusiasts etc. In this case, the band was number 15 with its name to be posted. All the additional info - albums, reissues etc - are added by hundreds od Discogs' authorized people, sometimes with no real feeling of what the performer is. I saw many mistakes of assigning albums to the similar names of perfomers.
I am not authorized, so let it go as it was.

PS. For example,
As a human with Russian as mother tongue, I find it amusing how many bootleg\pirate\ records are assigned to RUSSIAN pirate labels. I was a frequent visitor to the world's largest pirate records open market which existed in Moscow in late 80-ies - 90ies, but I have never seen those fantastic labels which are called "Russian" on Discogs.

The numbers are assigned by the person who contribute the release / band to discogs.

So if I have a band called f.e. The Sound, an obscure local band which released a local single, and I put it on discogs, discogs will come with a comparable list of names alerady shared in the database. To make the release / band unique you have to put a new number behind the band/artist name to be sure it is not listed in the releases of another band with the name The Sound.

Sofar my contributions included one band for which I had to choose the next number in line. So yes it is on a "fist come first served basis.
