I just recently got them both myself and have just the slightest inkling of how to use them.[:I]

2Nu,

I use soundforge for editing and ACID Pro 4 for assemplying beats, samples, effects, and of course the song together.

I usually will record the vinyl from my technics 1210 Mk2 through my RANE MP 22x mixer into the computer. Then I try to record at the highest possible level without actually clipping.

Once that is done, I usually have to chop up the song in Soundforge every 4 beats because most songs from the 80s were not recorded on the click. So once I chopped up the entire song, I render them samples into ACID were I then proceed to select any bpm I want and start using the painbrush to line up each sample anyway I chose.

My beats are almost always taken from my record collection. I'll just listen to records till I find a beat I like and sample that.

The cool part would be if I knew how to play an instrument, then I could add additional keyboards to enhance the song even further.

Anyhow, that's the way I approach editing and remixing a song.

One of these days (when my kids are old enough to do this with me perhaps)I'll be able to lay down some of my own remixes.
Right now all I want to do is be able to string together an extended set of songs that I like and rip it onto a CDR or DVD. That's all! [:I]
