I've just discovered that the B-side of A Flock Of Seagulls' "Nightmares" has an obscure German name and now I'd like to hear it. Does anyone have it?

I found Rosenmontag on Listen as track #6 its a odd Instrumental track. It differently and B-side track.

So cool! I recently scored most of the AFOS b-sides (on vinyl, of course), but I have no way to put them to CD-R or mp3 yet.

Has there ever been a release of AFOS rarities or b-sides? I seem to have a memory of seeing one on eBay but it looked to be "homemade" and it sold for a fortune.

I ripped all the b-sides of the singles I have (9 tracks). I stopped buying AFOS stuff after the second album.

Since someone brought up "Committed" here, I had a question maybe someone can help me out with.

I'd been looking for that song for a LONG time. Recently two good things happened: 1) I came across my original 45 with that as the B-side (bought in 82 or 83 I guess); and 2) I found out that the newly released (in the US, just last month?) Listen has the 12" version as an extra track, and picked it up.

So my question is: Is there any source for the 7" version on CD? In looking for it years ago, I thought that some odd "import" CD had that song, but didn't pay attention to the version.

I figure with all this talk about "only rare and out of print versions" somebody's got to know the answer! Thanks!

Thanks for the info on that German best-of disc. It looks like the thing I saw years back when looking for that song. You wouldn't by chance know for sure what version of the song is on there? From what I could get out of the German review, they don't even mention it. The extended version on the new US CD is around 5:38, and from memory the 7" I have is about 2:42.

It's funny, but they used to play that song so much here that I guess I never thought it was "rare" until I started looking recently. It's a great song. If nothing else, I'm sure SOMEONE else will end up on the forum looking for the same info some day...

I'm quite sure the version on this best of CD is the short version you're looking for.
I've found a 2:51 version on Limewire and its ID3 tags were saying "Best of A Flock Of Seagulls, Track 12" which fits to the information from Amazon.

There seem to exist two different tracklists for Listen:

Thanks a bunch for the confirmation on that track, 1980-F. I'm probably not going to go right out and drop 20 euro on it, but I'm certainly gonig to place it on my "watch" list to see if I can find it used. I had an MP3 of that version too, but it was clearly from a dirtier 45 than even mine and it was at 128k.

I also noticed that the "new" Listen I got was different than the one I already had; I didn't really pay it much attention, because it's not really my favorite album from them. But I seem to remember that there was a third Listen CD as well with different extras?

I have Version 2 of Listen, it's a Superfecta release.

There are two versions of Listen. The first one is the Jive version which has the original LP tracklist featured on the back, but contains the B-Sides Rosenmontag and The Last Flight of Yuri Gagarin as extra tracks. The second one is the Superfecta release with the bonustracks Committed, Quicksand and I Ran (live).

I have a CD-r containing all b-sides and 12" versions of the released singles of the first three albums.
