Your Worst 80's Video

Postby djcraig » Fri Jun 09, 2006 3:58 am

For me it's a tie between Bowie and Jagger's "Dancing In The Street" and Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield".

<img style="width: 300px; height: 275px;" alt="" src="http://www.d5.dion.ne.jp/~aqua.f/dancing%20in%20the%20street.jpg"><br><br>In "Dancing", Bowie morphed from the coolest guy in Rock into Mrs. Furley from Three's Company.

<br><br><img style="width: 300px; height: 250px;" alt="" src="http://perso.orange.fr/sandrine.raspau/pat-benatar-france/photos/Bio/Picdiscv2.jpg"><br><br>"Battlefield" featured Benatar's lame attempt to dance at the insistence of the producers. This consisted of her shimmying her shoulders while she strutted. The end effect was Benatar looking glaringly self conscious as she jerked in a unsettling, seizure like manner.

As Leonard Pinth-Garnell used to say on SNL..<br> <br><img style="width: 300px; height: 250px;" alt="" src="http://snl.jt.org/arc/char/DaAy-Leonard%20Pinth-Garnell.jpg">

"Oh that was bad... very bad."

Those are great! I mean terrible!
I can think of so many because video was just starting out and nobody knew what to do. Or worse they thought they looked cool.
My first would be Men at work-down under. The reason is that they act out every single word in the song.Like you see a guy actually smile and give him a vegimite sandwich.
Second I would have to say any video by Hall and Oats. If they werent dressed like detectives they were doing their version of the white girl dance. Think Molly Ringwald in Breakfast club. And Oats would always stare at the camera and make stupid faces like he was all cool.

One of the worst was that video, I forget the name, was it twighlight zone...(when the bullet hits the bone) It had zombies, real stupid camera tricks and all that bad smoke and fake fire and stuff. Was that golden earring?

Missing Persons - "Surrender Your Heart." An ugly and unwatchable video (boasting some of the worst early computer graphics I've ever laid eyes on) from a band who consistently made bad videos (save for "Destination Unknown" and "Right Now"). It could have been a hit with a decent promo clip, but it's like all the money they were making went towards Dale's hair care products. 'Cause they sure as hell weren't spending anything on their videos.

Love is a Battlefield is one of the best videos ever. It actually tells a story in a very unforced manner. I cry every time I see it.

This is the worst video ever:

Pat Benetar also made we belong? I think that was ther song but anytime you make a video about ww2 its silly. It showed people in unmatching uniforms, fake planes, and pat able to walk into Nazi headquarters and blow it up without anyone seeing her.

Oh God that is an embarassing video...I get douche chills.

another terrible video is

Billy Joels "She's Right On Time" ---where "everything goes wrong" before his date...the synchronised head turning as sparks fly from toasters and chandaliers crash are laughable. Insulting.

I really don't like any videos that are simply shot from live concerts.

I don't mind "Dancing in the Street." It was just a quickie designed to show a lot of energy, which it succeeded in doing.

I can't stand "Mickey." The song stinks and the video of cheerleaders bouncing around is just plain stupid.
