Anyone ever seen these Human League videos? The Human League started out as a darker more experimental group. Well, the first one is more pop. Great song too. Empire State Human. I was so impressed with these tunes I went out and got Reproduction and Travelogue. Great albums if you actually like these videos.

Reproduction and Travelogue have always been my favorite HL albums. Synthesizer minimalism at its finest.

Travelogue is my fave out of the early stuff. "Black Hit of Space" is an excellent way of starting off an album.

"I Am The Law" sounds like it should of been on the first two albums and is one of my favourite HL songs.

I am a big Human League fan.
My friends that like new wave totally discount the HL.

"Seconds" takes me back every time I play it.
It revives so many VIVID memories.
That synthesizer is the baddest!

I agree. These are on my list of Top NW albums too. And "Black Hit of Space" is indeed an awesome way to start off an album; Frank Chickens is dead on here.

With the exception of their Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis crapfest, the Human League can do no wrong. Their newer stuff sounds great too. And do the girls age? They still look amazing. Phil needs to grow back his hair, though. Maybe go for that superbangs look he had in '79.

pretty damn good videos considering. Human League are under-rated as an influence. 1978? for godsake, everyone creams all over Kraftwerks Man Machine from that same year...OMD , Cabaret Volt. and H.L. were hittin too that year.

Gary Numan was around that time too, right?

Has anyone else have the golden hour of the future? A issue (re-issue) previously unheard material from the pre Travelogue and Reproduction era Human League, and their earlier alias, The Future.
Very much like travelogue and well worth getting.

Yep I got this and a chunk of the tracks are from a band Phil Oakey was in called Future. It makes Reproduction sound like "Don't You Want Me" in its accessibility and may want to be avoided if you don't like your synth to be that bleak and harsh. A good listen.

Yessir -forgot Gary .....was massive in 1979...on the OMD front; I'm just reading a history on Depeche Mode, and Vince Clarke claims the first time he every heard a drum machine, and wanted to make electronic music was the first time he heard OMD's "Almost" (B side of there debut 7" "Electricity" on Factory records)....things were moving pretty fast from 1977-1981, that's for sure....

I love the Golden Hour Of The Future disc. Very minimalistic, almost a blueprint for John Foxx's Metamatic LP.

And again, I'm nit-picking, but I believe The Future was Marsh/Ware before Phil joined up.

This thing must be rare. The price on Amazon for a used one is really high. Ebay doesn't even have any copies.

If I remember correctly I got my copy of Golden Hour from A Different Drum about 2 years ago.
