Does anybody recall the early 80s video show Rock World? We got it here on a local Philadelphia channel late on weekend nights. I think it may have been foreign & there was just an announcer doing voiceovers between videos. This is where I discovered dozens of great bands, way better than early MTV or anything that I've seen since. I didn't have a VCR at the time, somebody out there had to though, right? There was also a pretty cool show called Hollywood Heartbeat that we got here, kinda reminded me of a less bizarre version of Peter Ivers' New Wave Theatre. If anybody has tapes of this stuff, I'll wash your car, make dinner for a month, trade you whatever you want,HELP!!

I remember rockworld,at the time it was the only way to see vids by the jam,dickies clash etc.I do have the 2 vol vhs set of the best of new wave theater,which was great despite the somewhat annoying peter ivers who btw was murdered at some point during the 80s,dont remember the details.

I remember Rock World. I watched it when I lived in northern NJ. Since I didn't have cable when I moved there, it kind of helpedme get over my MTV addiction. I think it aired in the NYC area on Friday or Saturday nights around midnight. Sorry I don't have any tapes. I couldn't afford a VCR back then.[:(]

oh wow - I posted in another thread about Rock World, but I couldn't remember what it was called! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! It's been driving me nuts!

It was a great show - I saw tons of cool groups!

New Wave theatre was ok - but Peter Ivers did creep me out. A friend had his album - he had a bloody arrow sticking out of his chest. At least I think it was Peter Ivers.

Funny thing is, I had forgotton about him for years. When I saw Joe Pantilliano on the Sopranos I thought it was the same guy.

Glad I'm not the only one that recalls this show. I couldn't afford a VCR back then either, they were still in the $300-500 range for the cheaper ones back then. I did find the two New Wave Theatre tapes not too long ago, that was fantastic stuff. Peter Ivers was definately a strange dude, but I always kinda liked him. From what I recall, he was beaten to death in Hollywood. Don't know if the crime was ever solved or not.

What other Boston/New England psychedelic bands were there? I know there is a 3rd member to complete the triumvirate of Boston psychedelic bands but I'm blanking.
