Here it is, the alternate video for New Order's "Crystal".

Jesus Schwenko, that's not a video! It's some dude filming his cat and dog while Crystal is playing in the background! I thought maybe you were gonna post the Gina Birch remix version, which is actually quite excellent and perhaps better than the original one that gave birth to The Killers' name.

This is the alternate video by Michael Shamberg that is mentioned in the "A Collection" sleevenotes.

Don't the liner notes merely refer to Shamberg being the producer for the original video? This one says it was made by some Leo Carax knucklehead for the said $13+ bucks, and probably in his apartment. Just listen to the sound - it's recorded coming straight off his stereo. Are we looking at the same "video"??? I'm flummoxed. [B)]

Brilliant. It's so bad, it's good. The "etc." bit is my favorite.

Okay, the "etc" part was indeed clever...but that's all! [:D]

And don't forget the emphasis on "honey".....mmmmm. OK, it's kinda stupid but that's the whole point, right? Kind of like a mockery of the video making industry as a whole, no?

Shamberg is also building a Web site (www. kinoteca.net) that will contain his stories about the making of these videos as well as one special treat. “When I called Leos Carax” — the legendary French director of Les Amants du Pont-Neuf — “to do a video for ‘Crystal,’ he told me, ‘The video will be very cheap, but my fee will be very large,’” recalls Shamberg, who notes that Carax didn’t get the job. “Then one day he called and told me that he had gone ahead and made the video. It’s very funny, and it will be up on my Web site. It’s just him, his dog and his cat. It makes fun of music videos. At the end, his dog is sitting there with an erection.”

Hahahahah! I DID say that didn't I?!!! Sorry...I'm getting senile. Well, it's still shit. It's the epitome of bogus art...very cheap but very big fee indeed. Not everything intended to be ironic is actually ironic...sometimes it just sucks. But thanks for clarifying the background on that. [:I]
