Hi Doodlebug:

I'll post the lyrics over the weekend. Just curious, where did you hear this song? As far as I know it was a small local hit in Toronto, where the band was from.

Hi David,

Wow - that would be great if you have the lyrics. I live in Toronto and heard the song on JackFM (92.5) - it was the first time I'd heard it and for some unknown reason I was compelled to stop driving and wait until they'd announced the artist. I've tried unsuccessfully to find an online download for this song and have only found it as part of "Hardest Hits Volume 5" - a CD compiled here in Canada. I'm now on a mission to find this CD or preferably a download.

Thanks in advance.

I have played this song on my station (www.SineWaveRadio.com) and have received excellent feedback for it. Get in touch with me and I'll get you an mp3 of the song.

Take care,
Hugo

Doodlebug:

Here are the lyrics. BTW, you would also like Malcolm Burn's solo lp "Redemption" (he was the lead singer of Boys Brigade). Let me know if you would like a copy (quite rare). Also, I have all of the "Hardest Hits" collection, so let me know if you need an mp3 of the song.

Melody

and there was a time
and there was a place
and there are memories

and there was a girl
such a beautiful girl
her name was Melody

and she had a smile
such a shining smile
could light the city skies at night

and all the late night clubbers say
they can still remember the way
she used to dance

Melody danced her way right into my heart
Melody stole my heart then danced away

and she used to have a man
and the man’s name was sam
he was the ultimate antihero

and he used to drink and he used to fight
and he used to beat her almost every night
he used to hurt her so

and I would get so damn angry up in my small room
but I can only cry for all hurt
and to this day I still wonder what it was that made her stay
why did you stay?

Melody danced her way right into my heart
Melody stole my heart then danced away

Melody, she’ll be walking back
she’ll be standing by me

As Far As I Know, the Boys Brigade 1983 LP is not available on CD. I wish it was.. I love it so much. Easily the best thing Geddy Lee has ever produced
