Probably not new wave, but a memory of this song bubbled up from my subconcious, possibly in distorted or confused form and it's driving me crazy
This was a song that got a bit of airplay probably '78 or '79 I think on one of our local AOR stations, but those did pay an occasional new wave tune. I'm thinking it was Sammy Hagar or Robert Palmer but I'm not so sure. The lyrics as I remember them go a little like this:
I'm a long long distance from (something that rhymes with "answer")
I can't wait 'til I get an answer
which I know isn't much. I think the song says something about a telephone, but it's not Foreigner's "Love on the Telephone" from Head Games.
I know it's not much to go on. Any ideas?
