Let me know name of band & song

Let me know name of band & song

Postby n/a12 » Sat Jan 28, 2006 12:02 am

In 1982, my father bought me a cassette (now totally ruined) something titled “Billboard Hot 100 xxxx” that includes songs from The Motels, Devo, Ultravox, ODW & etc. One band I simply cannot recall the name and the song (probably sign of old age[:D]). The lyrics go like these ‘give me that, give me that, give me that banana –‘ and from the background there’s like Tarzan howling and monkeys creating noises, just makes you feel like you're in a jungle.

There was a band called Black Gorilla that did a song called "Gimme Dat Banana" in '77 I think. I have no idea what it sounds like but maybe that's it.[?]

I can't help you with any certainty, I googled on "Gimme That Banana" and I came across a man named Alston Koch, who was big in Australia and south Asia. (I've never heard of him myself.) He was also in bands called Darktan and S'witch.

I can't find anything about this guy or his bands on allmusic.com. This is the article I found: http://www.worldmusiccentral.org/articl ... 6170050562

Good luck.
