Country-Western w/ Synths? Band Name Info Please!

Country-Western w/ Synths? Band Name Info Please!

Postby oceanic » Fri May 23, 2008 11:52 am

I remember hearing awhile back about a band from the mid-eighties that incorporated country-western-tinged music with synthesizer technology. Does anyone remember a band like this? If you do, could you drop their name for me. I'm itching to hear what this band sounds like. If it helps, the cover art of one of their albums is red and there's a sort of sci-fi mars/desert landscape on it.
Thanks for the help!
Michael

"Country-western" and "synthesizers" in the same sentence evoke the name "Rubber Rodeo".

Is that whom you are thinking of?

The cover of Scenic Views may be close to the one you describe:

The cover of Heartbreak Highway is here:

You may be thinking of Yip Yip Coyote.

One of their records had a red cover, another looked like it could be a Mars landscape;

Thank you all for the help and ideas. Unfortunately, none of these bands are the one I'm looking for, but you've all given me some new music to explore so thank you very much!
I'll keep searching for this mystery band and if I track it down I'll certainly post the name and see if anyone's a fan.
Thanks again,
Mike

So it was a band called Wall of Voodoo. Anyone a fan? What's their stuff like? I've only ever heard vague whisperings about country and synths with relation to their music. Now to track down some of their music...

Wall Of Voodoo was a great band, but I'd never consider them country in any way, shape or form.

"Mexican Radio"?
