Stay (The Second Time Around) [Solved]

Postby SomebodySomewhere » Wed Nov 14, 2007 7:01 am

Well, it's official. Everything by White & Torch blows.

Thought I could finally die, but, alas, I must continue living.

(P.S. If anyone's still hung up on Modern Vision, I have since picked up the single, and it is 100% NOT it. If that's not weird enough, I played it for my British pal -- the one who told me it was by them. His response was -- and I quote -- "Who is that?" He does remember W&T's "Parade," though... I guess that's a start.)

I think I have 4 or 5 pieces of vinyl that I've bought over the years thinking that I might have found the elusive "Stay".

Can anyone top that?

I only bought one. I don't even remember what it was. I just remember it being bad! Did you at least get anything good out of all the ones you purchased?

No, the Modern Romance song is awful, the Dan Byrd one is worse, the Lost Patrol song is punk if I remember correctly, and the other 1 or 2 I can't even remember now. I guess I'll have to build a separate shelf for them once the White and Torch vinyl arrives.

I think you win, but I'm probably a close runner-up. Although two of the things (Romance at Eleven & Modern Vision) I bought after they had already been positively identified as something else. I also bought the White & Torch single (both 7" and 12") because I feared the idiot Europeans were going to jack the thing up to hundreds of bucks if I didn't get it right. there. and. then. Lucky for me that won't happen now. Yeah, lucky for me...

Dear Enemy and Romance at Eleven were the only records that weren't a waste of money, IMNSHO. And I really wanted Dear Enemy to be it because I thought it'd be hilarious if it was some group we all knew (or thought we did), but at the back of my mind, I figured (correctly) that there was no way it was them or somebody surely would have known it.

Biggest waste of money was some Italo piece of shit. Can't even remember the artist's name (I'm trying to forget the whole thing), although I'm sure my memory will jog if somebody attempts to say it's "the one."

Well, since I was the first one in the thread to say I thought it needed to be sped up a bit, allow me to also be the first one in the thread to say... okay, yeah, I was wrong!

(Now if you can get a speed somewhere in between the original mp3 and that, we might have something.)

I don't know if it needs to be adjusted for speed...it's a brutal sample to have to work with, but I tried to brighten up the sound a bit. The bass line sounds right to me, so my guess is the sample is at the right rpm.

For what it's worth, see if this sounds any better:

"Stay" sample w/better sound

I feel so bad, i really thought the White & Torch song was the right one. I felt so shocked to know it wasn't. [:(]

This song has driven me crazy. I wish i had never started this thread in the first place !

Perhaps, it's time to let this song go and ask MikeP to CLOSE this horrible topic once and for all.

Do you agree ? Or do you prefer to go on with this neverending "soap opera" ?

I don't see where we have a choice...picking on Ben will be fun for all of 5 minutes.

Don't delete the topic now. It's kinda like crack to me.

How about some additional info like:

Where did you hear this? When?
Was it on the radio?
Did a friend put this on a tape for you?
Did you hear it at a club?

Did you hear it in a box? Or did you hear it with a fox?
Did you hear it in a house? Or did you hear it with a mouse?
Did you hear it on a boat? Or did you hear it with a goat?
Did you hear it in the rain? Or did you hear it on a train?
Did you hear it in the dark? Or did you hear it in a car?
Did you here it here or did you here it there? Did you really hear it anywhere?
Did you hear it in a tree? Or should we just let you be?

How on earth did this get taken for "Heartbeat" anyway? That doesn't even have the word "stay" anywhere in it. The closest is "Maybe he wants you but all he can say is, 'I'm gay.'" At least that's what it sounds like he's saying. Well, whatever, it's probably funnier than what the lyrics really are. Granted, 95% of the lyrics are just the chorus repeated over and over again.

"Miracle" is the better track, by the way. Not that that's saying much. But at least it has its moments.
