Any help here on this haunting melody: "You were the one[boy?] I wanted to cry with...you were the one I wanted to die with." Female lead with a male backup vocal. Got air around the same time as Touch Myself.

Based on that line, I believe you're referring to "Kingdom of Rain" by The The from the album [i]Mind Bomb[/i] (1989). It's actually Matt Johnson (mainman behind The The) in a duet with Sinead O'Connor (I'm pretty sure).
