I know that the John Hughes-directed movie Sixteen Candles must be a favorite of many of those who frequent this board. Does anyone know the song that's playing when Samantha (Molly Ringwald) first enters the "New Faces" dance with her friend?

I haven't checked out the sound clip, but instantly I thought of Echo and the Bunnymen. I haven't seen the movie since it was released on video in the 80's, so don't quote me on that though.

That's just extended "Our House"/Madness isn't it??

That's what I originally thought as well. There are definite similarities. However, I listened to the extended re-mix of "Our House" again, and it's not the same. The lyrics being sung near the end of the clip sound something like "Eileen" or "Filene."

This is a fake version of Our House by Madness. They do that when they don't want to pay royalties for something that's jsut in the background.

It really give the look-and-feel of the song, without any identifying traits like melody or lyrics.
