Someone once left a tape in my car--Yes, the imagination goes wild!--and on this tape I remember the morose crooning of a deep voice, like Peter Murphy, or something Goth--but in the pre-goth Nu Romantic phase. (anytime before 1986)

One track contained the lyrics:
"ABCDEFGHI..." "zed"
"zed"
and something about how that letter was the ruin of him.

The arrangement contained an arty rythm with xylophone. It's not: dead can dance, psych furs, bauhaus...or is it? the mix was kinda 4AD sounding--but then, the tape was old and muted.
