"Lizzie Borden took an axe.." What Song Is This?

"Lizzie Borden took an axe.." What Song Is This?

OK, if anyone can help identify this song, well, as Ali G would say: "Respect."

Here's all I can give you:
- early to mid-80s song
- the verses are children's rhymes:
"Jack be nimble, Jack be quick..."
"Lizzie Borden took an axe..."
- the chorus is just a series of "La la, la-la-las"
- I think it's from a Boston band and was produced by Ric Ocasek
- great guitar work in it
- I keep thinking "We Could Be Children" is the title, but nothing comes up when I search the net

Thanks for any help.

"We CAN Be Children" by The Dark. From their virtually impossible to find EP, "Darkworld." They were indeed from Boston.

Whoa, thanks so much.

Off by one word for twenty years and that's made all the difference.
Thanks, again.

You're welcome. Make sure to check out their second (and easier to find) EP, "Don't Feed the Fashion Sharks," which I added to my collection just a few months ago. Ocasek had nothing to do with it, but it's actually better produced (by Walter Turbitt and the band) and the title track is killer. It's also got a song called "Darkworld," which, strangely, is not actually on "Darkworld."

Their stuff really grows on you. Lot better than I remembered them being at the time.
