The song is "Goodbye" by John Ruth. It was the lead track off his overlooked "I Am A Model" LP from 1981. The label was "22 Records" ...hope that helps.

The album was originally released under the name John Ruth. I own a copy of it and will vouch for its authenticity. It seems that when it was re-released on CD it came out under his real name.
