I'm gonna hate myself when I read the answer to the second one: I know I know it, and probably own it, but I can't for the life of me put an artist or title to it. Sorry.

it sounds like a dance/dub version of "saturday at midnight" by cheap trick, and the original is on "one on one" from 1982.

i looked on the web and sure enough there is a promo of 2 mixes, on called the "superdub" mix and the "supernew dance remix."
i bet this is it.
