when i was younger, somewhere in te early eighties, they used to play a song in the local club. Never knew the title or artist. But i think one of you have to know it.
It was not realy new wave but more funk i think, sometimes i think it sounds like laidback's white horse. There was a male singer who sang(in my memorie) : "it is time for dollar bills, hundred dollar bills",i think the female background answered:"waiting for the money", there was also this lyric that always came back "cash cash cash money"

Maybe Fantastic Four's "Cash Money"?

Or more like the re-do by Prince Charles & the City Beat?

Yes to the former. If it's 1984 or so, likely vinyl first but don't know for a fact.
