There's this song I remember hearing on some alternative station during their 80's lunch hour. I've been trying to figure it out for years. From what I remember it was a dark moody type song with dark moody vocals sung by a male. The only lyrics I remember are "I'm being abused". Also from what I remember the lyrics I'm being abused were used 3 or 4 times during the song. The station I heard it on was the now defunct southern California modern rock station Y-107 during their 80's lunch hour.
Does anybody know what song I might be talking about?

Can you provide more detail? Was it a synthy dance pop thing, or more of a guitar-driven tune, or what?

It was a post-punk, gothic type song kind of like joy division or sisters of mercy. I can't remember whether it was guitar driven or synth driven but from what i remember it had a slow beat. It could have came out anytime during the 80's, possibly even early 90's. Of course i've tried google and many lyric sites but haven't found what i'm looking for. It might be an obscure song by an obscure band or artist. I remember i had the song on a tape that i recorded off the radio but i lost the tape a long time ago.

Well, here's the thing. I live in So Cal and listened to Y-107. I seriously can't think of a song they played that I DIDN'T know... ESPECIALLY if it's sorta gothy sounding - so I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that it's not "I'm being abused" that you are hearing.
if there's ANY other info you can provide the odds are pretty good someone can help you come up with it - but based on your description I am thinking you've misheard the lyrics.

Maybe the lyrics went something like I've been abused, or I'm feeling abused, or I feel abused.

I remember a song kind of like you are asking about, but the lyrics were "I want to be adored" -- I think it was the Stone Roses.

The Stone Roses were a really great band. But the song i'm looking for isn't them. I even checked once. Nice guess though. With all the music that came out during the 80's and early 90's, i just wonder what was that song i heard and taped. HMMM! i wonder.

Other possible lyrics might be "i'm beaten & bruised".

Although it's probably NOT the song i'm looking for, does anyone know about the song "Slave to this" by Soft Cell. Was it ever released as a single or played on the radio.

Nevermind. This post isn't working. I don't think it was soft cell anyway. If i remember correctly the singer had a deep voice. I don't know... what should i do? Don't cha just hate it when there's been a song you heard on the radio, yet you have know idea who it is, and years later you still don't. Thanks for trying to help though. Hopefully sometime soon i'll be able to solve this mystery and get a breath of fresh air. I'm sure i'm not the only person who's ever heard this song. Especially if it was played on a commercial radio station[?]
