A forgotten tune played on WLIR not too long ago

I put out an ID request to some folks connected with the station to no avail. It got airplay on 92.7 for a short time in the spring & early summer of 1997. I'm sure if I saw an WLIR playlist from the 1997 spring/summer timeframe the song title would jog my memory.
I believe it was by an obscure or local band fronted by a female vocalist (similar to Shona Laing) which featured a catchy politically worded lyric/ catch phrase plus a characteristic guitar and horns riff . In particular, the chorus or refrain, which if I can take a lame stab at it said something to the effect- ...your freedom/ rights is/are worth fighting / taking/ making a stand for..(?).
Kinda sounded like the Eagle Eye Cherry tune 'Save Tonight'.

Have you contacted Malibu Sue at Island 94.3? She is the one I go to for song names. She hasn't let me down yet. Good luck.

She was the first one I tried and she couldn't ID it based on the above info. The second attempt was to WLIR directly, no cigar... and no available playlists dating back to 1997(huh?) [V]

Do you have Maxx's song list from WLIR? http://us.share.geocities.com/snsterling/WLIRprint.htm
I see you on the old thread so you probably do.
I wish I could help you [:(]
