Not a new wave song but .....

I just got back from Wal-Mart and I heard a rock song that I just love. I am not sure who sings it but it is an older tune. The chorus goes SOMETHING like this
"I want a girl like that ....
If I had a girl...."
It sounds like John Cougar Mellencamp but I could be wrong!
Please if you can name the singer/band and song I would greatly appreciate it.

No, mygreen - it's worse. Let's just say he's not very attractive (to put it mildy) and the whole video he sleazily stalks women walking down the street, accosting them with his ugly mulleted self.
