Well, I might be a bit hasty but I really think we got it here.

I did some serious detective work and managed to track down contact information for the band, Modern Vision. They are Belgian, recorded an album and a few singles between 1985-1987. They played at festivals in Europe and had some airplay. They broke up in 1987 and formed another band and then yet another. I contacted a band member named Chris and he tells me that indeed, Stay (Second Time Around) --not the actual title, it's just "Stay" -- was the 7" that has appeared at places like Gemm.

I sent Chris the mp3 sample. I hope to hear from him tonight and perhaps we'll have this mystery finally, officially solved.

If it is, thanks should really go to Somebody Somewhere's DJ friend who pegged it in July. The full album is at Gemm now. If this is the band I'm sure it'll sell like hotcakes.

Eating my shoe as we speak. I recommend boiling it and then a little tabasco and salt.

So, Modern Vision is out. I sent the MP3 to the band member and he said that it wasn't the song. Sorry, folks. I jumped the gun on that one.

The good news is, no one needs to rush out a buy that Stay 7".

I wonder however, if it's at all possible that there is another band called Modern Vision? (A given) That is from Belgium? I'll ask the band member some more questions about it.

We can only hope that "stay" is in fact part of the song title! I feel like putting up a mock "Wanted" poster. Or maybe a virtual milk carton is in order![:p] No other song has garnered so much interest and internet sleuthing.

I think we're on the right track though, since I still have a nagging feeling that it's from a continental European artist.
