Help needed to identify song

Well this one is difficult
I know it was from the 80's and I really don't remember much about it
the lines sort of went
tell your friends there (lies / jokes)? don't .... make me cry?? (I think)
it was a male singer
killing me for years trying to remember this one

Could it be The Unguarded Moment" by The Church? The line goes, "Tell those girls with rifles for minds that their jokes don't make me laugh, they only make me feel like dying in an unguarded moment..."

Between the time I read the original post and registered, you came up with the same answer as I did. "The Underguarded Moment" by the Church.

Well, in my case, I still play their "Of Skins and Hearts" CD frequently. It's probably in my top 10 of the decade.
