The worst and best cd reissues

The worst and best cd reissues

Postby Alfredo » Tue Dec 28, 2004 1:07 am

I am very happy every time there is news about the reissue of a favorite album on cd.However, there are also poor reissues of classic albums.I don't understand why to reissue an album with bad sound quality and poor artwork or original artwork that is ruined by adding words such as "plus", "includes extra tracks" ,"includes..." etc or original artwork that is completely destroyed by adding other pictures, or colored frames around it.

The worst reissues are:
1.-The UK recent reissues of Altered Images albums
2.-The UK recent reissues of Kajagoogo albums
3.-The Adam & The Ant recent album reissues
4.-the UK Haircut 100 and Nick Heyward cd reissues
5.-The first reissues of One Way Records(ugly artwork)
6.-The American reissues of Gang of Four albums
7.-The second UK reissues of New MusiK albums
8.- UK Cherry Red reissues of Woodentops,Flesh for Lulu,Danse Society
9.The Best of Captain Sensible. It compiles almost both first two albums.Unfortunately, some songs such as the classic "Glad It's All Over" are EDITED!!!

The best reissues are:
1.-The Superfecta reissues. The head of this company is a genius.
2.-The Oglio Records reissues
3.-The UK NEW WAVE Renaissance cd's made in Japan(Altered Images,Pale Fountains,China Crisis etc).
4.-The UK LLoyd Cole & The Commotions,Japan,Eurythmics, ABC recent reissues. They are examples of BEATIFUL ARTWORK.They come in digipacks or boxes. In some cases the artwork is different but it is better!!!The people behind these reissues deserve a monument!.
5.-The guitar pop jamboree cd's made in Japan (Nick Heyward,Wild Swans,Care, etc)
6.-UK reissues of Simple Minds,OMD,Utravox,Psychedelic Furs,etc
7.-The Rewind series (one of the best!)Altered Images,New Musik,Fiction Factory etc.
8.-The second One Way Reissues. They realized how ugly the artwork of their first cd's was and decided to keep the original artwork(Visage,Fixx,Missing Persons etc)

Some comments on some of these reissues.

1) Why does the "Another Lost Look" by Altered Images on the Bite reissue not sound as good as the version I have on the US LP? Is that the original UK version? Also, it would be nice to see an Altered Imag

I hear the recent US Bananarama reissues have lousy sound [xx(]

The Japanese 'Bite' cd sounds great. No bonus tracks though.

I heard Dazzle Ships is up next for remastering.

I was pleased with the Kajagoogoo reissues, although I would have preferred them without the white border around the album artwork. Also, I would have liked the "Midnight Mix" of "Too Shy" that appeared
