Work is well under way on the next batch of Ants Remasters - Friend Or Foe, Vive Le Rock and Strip. Artwork is near completion and the three albums have a tentative release date of 1st March, 2005. A full-page advertisment will be running in the next NME Originals Collectors Magazine which hits newstands on January 15, 2005. This Collectors issue focuses on 80's music and features The Ants.

Friend or Foe will contain at least 12 extra tracks including unreleased titles They Know I Know, Gargoyles are Go, So You Shall and a unique version of Sex Rumples the Clothing.

Vive Le Rock will contain two Francois Kevorkian remixes of Apollo 9 including the Splashdown Mix and an unheard version of the 7 inch mix. There is an unreleased Vive Le Rock extended mix, a Rip Down demo and an released track entitled Doggy Style and Night They Vietcong.

For Strip extra tracks will definitely feature some extra unreleased production dialogue with Adam, Marco and Phil Collins.

ADAM ANT -friend or foe SONY MUSIC 01.03.2005

Adam Ant's first record without his back-up band The Ants proved to be his strongest album to date, as well as his mainstream commercial breakthrough. Keeping only guitarist Marco Pirroni on hand, Ant seriously backed off on the campy pirate/Indian/tribal-drumming motif that marked his earlier releases. The advent of MTV proved to be fortuitous for the dashing singer. His breakthrough single, "Goody Two Shoes," and its accompanying video got brought Ant a much larger American audience and introduced the libidinous side of the singer, a facet which was to become more pronounced in later releases. Elsewhere, the album chugs along with a heavy backbeat and piping horns, giving "Friend or Foe," "Place in the Country," and "Crackpot History and the Right to Lie" a percolating feel. Pirroni's 50's style twang guitar is a complementary counterpoint to Ant's British pop stance. "Here Comes the Grump" and "Made of Money" both benefit from his reverb-drenched guitar lines. The latter features a multi-part acapella section, a first for Ant.

ADAM ANT -strip SONY MUSIC 01.03.2005

With the release of STRIP, Adam Ant completely shed his former theatrical persona of pirate costumes and Indian warpaint. In its place came a bare chest and a pair of bedroom eyes. The tribal drumming and twang guitar are conspicuously absent as Ant whirls out his pop tales of lust and the joys of the flesh. Aligning himself with the then hugely popular Phil Collins broadened his American audience considerably. Collins produced and played drums on the albums two singles, "Strip" and "Puss 'n' Boots." The latter is Ant's most infectious pop-ready moment, a PG-13 update on the old children's fairy tale. Ant's transformation to sex obsessed pin-up boy garnered him no small amount of ire from US critics, who dismissed the album as a vacuous washout. The undeniable pop hooks and streamlined sound of "Puss 'n' Boots," "Playboy," and "Montreal" are toe tappers that retain their bounce, no matter how devoid they are of any emotional substance. After all, this is a man who rose to fame dressed like he was auditioning for "Treasure Island."

02. Baby, Let Me Scream At You
03. Libertine

AFTER THE FIRE - der kommissar / the cbs recordings EDSEL MEDCD757 31.01.2005

Although formed in the mid-70s, After The Fire played a form of 80s-styled synthesizer rock pop, and managed to chart throughout Europe, the US and Australia.

This mid-price 3-on-2 release contains their CBS three albums (from 1979, 1980 and 1982) and 10 bonus non-album singles sides, including some ultra-rare live tracks from London’s Rainbow. The majority of tracks make their CD debut.

After The Fire’s biggest worldwide hit, ironically not an original composition, was “Der Kommissar” which reached # 5 in the US, # 17 in Australia, # 20 in Sweden, # 44 in Germany, and # 47in the UK.

The booklet is annotated by the president of the group’s fan club, and is cram full of picture sleeves from all their releases. The band still play concerts, and have involved themselves with this project.
