Erasure sort of lost me with "I Say, I Say, I Say." Which is odd, because I'm a big Heaven 17/B.E.F. fan and Martyn Ware produced. I have the 12" gatefold CD package and got both "Always" singles. Nothing more. I put it down to the songs. And the boring remixes of the time which I HATED may have had something to do with my stopping cold on collecting/listening to Erasure.

Sadly, I feel the same way with almost everything from Erasure after the "I Say" album. At first, I didn't love "I Say" either, but during the time of it's release I worked at a local record shop where the CD was played almost daily for several months, and I grew to love it. Every album after, there are standout tracks I like, but nothing where I would sit down and listen to the entire album. Of course, everything from 1986 - 1991 was FANTASTIC, so I can't complain!

Not even "Nightbird"? To me this was an outstanding album although the singles were not the best songs from the album.

Not for me, just has too much of that "techno" drum beat that completely turns me off most of the tracks. Although, I do really enjoy the track "I broke it all in two", but I just can't sit down with any current Erasure albums. I've seen them several times live, and subscribe to their newsletter, so I do love their music, but I guess I'm just stuck in the past for them. Same for Depeche Mode, so it's not just Erasure. Nothing (for me) surpasses Violator, or any of their early albums. ;) #stuckInThe80s

"Violator" surely was their masterpiece. I still listen to "World in my eyes" a lot. And "Personal Jesus" has a phenomenal electronic bridge (omitted in the single version).

But in gerneal I like it when an artist is open to contemporary sounds especially while they still manage to keep a certain old-style feeling. This is a little difficult for me to express it in a language that is not my mother tongue but I hope you get the meaning. And I think quite a lot of artists succeeded in doing so e. g. Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, New Order or Mylene Farmer (the latter is a fantastic French singer who is able to integrate new sounds into her music but still maintain this melancholic mood from her first albums).
