Nowadays, I think that Beck and Andre 2000 or 3000 or whatever his number is from Outkast are total hipsters. As for as new wave, I think at least among the females, the coolest no doubt has to be also the biggest, Debbie Harry, her influence on fashion and music is mindboggling! I just love those really cool dresses and miniskirts Stephen Sprouse designed for her. Was Debbie the only new waver to have her own designer?

I always thought that Clem Burke and Gary Valentine from Blondie looked pretty cool, and Debbie obviously... ah hell, the whole band were damn sharp.

But for me the coolest looking person in the whole history of music has to be The Clash's Paul Simonon without a doubt.

I have to admit that while I love the music I never thought much of how the more outlandish NW artists looked. Boy George and Adam Ant, for example, always looked really ridiculous to me. Cool music but an atrocious infatuation with "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". I think the more sullen and straightforward Paul Weller and Bernard Sumner side of NW was a much cooler look....but then again I'm more sullen than flamboyant.[8D]

I'll have to dock a few point from Sumner for those unfortunate lycra crotch-hugging bicycle shorts he wore in concert in the late 80's though.
