Why do some people consider No Doubt post-new wave

Its true that they have some 80's elements but y do some ppl say theyre post new wave?? Would they be 2 similar to Missing Persons?

Because they are a 90's band. New wave encompassed the 70s and early 80's. Maybe No Doubt was inspired by new wave but they cannot be characterized as being new wave.

The one thing I really like about No Doubt is that they are unushamedly proud of their New Wave roots. Same thing goes for Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray. These guys grew up in Southern California, they're roughly the same age as us (early-to-mid 30s) and list

I must say that I didn't cringe too much with No Doubt's cover version of Talk Talk's "It's My Life". I thought they did it justice.

I consider them to be more pop, but you can tell that they're big fans of New Wave. Gwen is kinda like Dale Bozzio. I wish she'd lay off the sappy stuff, though, lol.

Anyway. If No Doubt is labeled as such then pretty much anything can be labeled "post New Wave" - Grunge, Gangsta Rap, Emo, Pop, etc [;)] Which pretty much makes the phrase meaningless to me. "Post-Punk" (New Wave)
