Songs that KROQ Forgot

One of the next projects I'm working on here at MFV is volume 11 of our very popular series, "Songs That Kroq Forgot". Each volume contains 20 tracks by either well-known or forgotten artists that KROQ used to play to death, but NEVER recieve any airplay anymore. Most of these songs don't even appear on '80s compilations, either.

I'd like to start a new topic with this AND get your help. I've put together almost 20 tracks for vol. 11 (and maybe even a few for vol. 12), but I would like YOUR input. Here is the criteria I'm looking for:

1. KROQ used to play the song to death upon it's release (between the years 1977-1987), but it has never been revived for 'flashback weekend, 'flashback lunch', 'flashback whatever'.
2. It's rarely appeared on any '80s compilations (at least in the US)
3. You NEVER hear it on any station anymore!

Here are a few examples (all scheduled to be on vol. 11 or 12):

Robert Gorl w/Annie Lennox-"Darling Don't Leave"
The Clash-"Know Your Rights"
OMD-"La Femme Accident"
The Cars-"Got A Lot On My Head"
Kraftwerk-"Pocket Calculator"

Yes, some of these bands are popular, but these particular songs are long forgotten by KROQ.

I need suggestions. If possible, if I cannot find the song, I would love it if you can e-mail me an mp3 of that song. In return, I can e-mail you a rarity that I have...

I hope this is a good topic, and I hope that your suggestions can help me wrap up the next 2 volumes.

Remember, the band could be one of the most populare new wave bands ever, but the song is long forgotten (one example would be D.Mode's "Get The Balance Right").

How about "Don't Talk To Me About Love" by Altered Images. I rarely ever heard that on the radio. Or "Is Vic There?" by Department S.?

Sorry, if these are poor suggestions, I never listened to KROQ as I am an East Coast boy.

CFNY in Toronto Played all the tracks mentioned, IMHO it was the best Station in North America during the 80's.

Here's one I've been trying to track down for years. A bar in Appleton, Wisconsin, that played "new wave" videos used to have a hilarious jilted lover song called "I Don't Mind" The band was, I believe called The Nelsons. No, it wasn't Rick Nelson's long-

I'm going to think this one in terms of east coast (where I'm from) and WLIR's playlist (the new wave station that played certain songs to death and during the flashback era, never played them):

Great topic Spaz. There were some signature songs that I remember from high school that they seem to have disowned. My apologies if they have revisited these relatively early KROQ nuggets - I could have easily missed them on my too-infrequent SoCal visits

Gosh, I haven't considered KROQ a New Wave station for forever now cause I think they totally turned their back on this style of music. KROQ used to be the coolest station on earth and they would play the most obscure as well as popular New Wave tracks.
