Hello all. If you love the Primitives, the Darling Buds, or New Wave jangle-pop fronted by women, try the Pin-Up Girls:

and I'm bringing them to everybody's attention here. Sorry to sound like a commercial, but none of us is doing this for the money. Know-It-All Records is trying to bring back the spirit of New Wave, and being an independent label with an A&R Rep such as myself who is embedded in the genre (I also work for the All-Music Guide), we're aiming to do that.

I was searching the net, looking for more info on the Pin Up Girls when i ran into this site. Niiiicceee. (How I missed this I have no idea.) Anyway, late last year I sent Michael Know-It-All an email with a review of the Pin Up Girls first release ("Taste Test") because he asked me to, to be honest. And that review ended up everywhere - or at least that's the way it seemed:

While the response to my review remains a surprise, I really do like this group. And I'm looking forward to hearing their brand new release (which is what I was searching around the the web for, before I ran into this site). That's all. I have nothing more to say. Yes, last I checked it's really me. Although I sort of feel like Rip Van Rabow, I've been (happily) out of the radio-thang for many, many years. But thank you for your kind thoughts.

The legendary Mr. Rabow! You Djed a dance television show in Tacoma that I appeared on and I got your autograph on a nice 8 X 10 glossy that I still have in my garage.

I was wondering if you have any old recordings of your KYYX shows. I am putting together the mother-of-all compilations for my Sea-Tac friends and was just able to get the station jingle to include. You are certainly welcome. I couldn't believe I still had all of those only somewhat slightly used rubber toys we found one "interesting" evening in the Sleaze District - hope you were able to put them to good use. (Did I forget to mention the importance of owning an autoclave?)

Well thanks again (and again). That was the whole point of giving the "show" that name: I tried to design ARD&L so it wouldn't easily slip from memory. (Although after leaving Seattle at least a decade and a-half went by when I didn't really think about it at all.)

to layer it on even more thickly--how could anybody forget your program names and aural celebrations ! "Rabow's Record Ranch and Cassette Corral" was another fave...talk about your alliteration. Your "House Parties" on Sundays were the BEST. You inspired countless of us Wavers to be curious, keep one's eyes open, and always look for the weird, the unusual, and the hopeless. I remember when you'd play records at a slower speed, and call it "Super Slo-Mo, like the Olympics". Ha ha, that was brilliant stuff. You really raised the bar in Seattle radio. Not to mention those wacky KYYX "Wave" magazines...I would venture to say that you did a lot of the writing for those ?!?!

Anyway, thanks for all the memories, the fun, and the inspiration. You were truly one of a kind ! [;)]

I have been looking for the song "Things Get In Your Way". It was played on NU-107 sometime in 1988.

I believe it is the B-side of the Crash song.
