Has anyone ever noticed that whenever a New Wave group or artist decides to get back together again,and reform,that whenever they put out a new CD of their hits,that the songs are just never as good as they were the second time around like they were the first time,and they always are watered down versions of their hits?

I was always wondering why is that? I just got a Bucks Fizz compilation of their old hits,and they weren't half as good as they were when all of the original members were a part of the group.They were really slowed down versions.Not that I don't already own the original versions,but because I am such a huge fan of theirs,I figured I would give their remakes a try,but it was pretty much terrible.I don't know why when a group gets back together,why they can't do the songs in the same upbeat style that they used to do the songs in.It's just piss poor.Same thing happened when I bought a new updated greatest hits comp of both Berlin and Missing Persons.They were also slow watered down versions.And Bow Wow Wow too.


Is it that these artists can no longer sing the high notes any longer,so they have to water the songs down? It's embarrasing when you hear an original great version,and than hear a newer updated version,and it can't compete with the original version.Does anyone see the point that I'm trying to make,and also find that they have the same problems with other New Wave artists too?

You got to be joking Swamp? That was when Bucks Fizz were in their prime and continually having hits after hit.No this I do not find embarrasing at all.Only the new remakes of their old songs I find embarrasing.Sorry but nothing is going to make me change

If your point is they shouldn't bother getting back together and making music because they just don't have it anymore, then yes, they shouldn't bother.

However it's all about $$$. That's what these bands are interested in. They got yours.

I agree. I wish that when they reformed that they did not touch the old songs that we love, but focus on new material instead. Do not "remake" the old songs with an updated sound. It just ruins them and makes the artist seem cheesy and void of new ideas.

Yes. Re-recordings by this kind of artists are almost always lousy. Examples include, other than those already mentioned, Dollar, Modern Romance, Limahl, and more recently A Flock Of Seagulls and Fun Boy Three - "has-been's", shall we say. Sad but true.
