the only problem with this genre is it so-o-o abundant. It is very easy to overlook some very good releases sifting through the crap.Sparrow Orange and worl'd end girlfriend are right up there.

Bingo - definately the most frustrating thing about it. I hate to say it, but it does kinda argue for some sort of strong studio system. Without any structure at all and very low barriers to entry, this music form is completely fractured with no one really making any money unless they break into the mainstream. It's too easy for someone with a synth and sampling sequencer to slap some stuff together, stick it in a comp, and put it out there. Even rock's indie labels look huge by comparison. There's gotta be a balance between the monopoly of hte big studios and complete chaos.

Agreed fellas, agreed wholeheartedly. Thanks for joining the convo oneno and good to have you here too Blir. I know this topic is up your alley.

There really is so much electronica clutter out there that it's simply dizzying. I like to stick to the aforementioned big name acts but compilations from labels like Moonshine are awesome and a really great way to get introduced to lesser known DJ's and groups. Another thing I like to do is look for compilations with at least one or two names I'm familiar with and just hope that at least some of the other tracks will be of at least the same caliber I expect from the known acts.
