Hi, yes, going to resurrect this thread. Not to argue with you or unguarded moment, but an ex-Scars member set up a MySpace profile for the Scars ( http://www.myspace.com/thescarsscotland ) and one of the categories he's slotted the band into is actually "powerpop". Though I can totally understand why one wouldn't consider Scars powerpop; I'm just pointing this out to you guys because it's a different perspective.

SAME HERE!![:D] I love the SUBGENRE of NEW WAVE called POWERPOP![;)] They sound clean and they have a certain style that you would definitely connect to NEW WAVE. I have albums from THE RECORDS, THE PAYOLAS, RED ROCKERS,THE SHOES etc. and all of them are pretty cool stuffs.

Power Pop, my most favorite sound! [:D] As having been a Mod during most of high scholl, after Quadraphenia hit the perverbial fan... [}:)]... parkas, vespas, lambrettas, et al. Sharkskin suits, patches, badges... well eat my two-stroke exhaust! [;)] [:D]

Since Pete Townsend described The Who's sound in the late sixties as having a "power pop" sound, they are first, and other late sixties and early seventies groups, and the revivalist from '77 to '81-ish, and still beyond today, there are great "power pop" bands (Blur, oasis, etc.) that are influenced by the guitar/throbbing drum beats wall o' sound!!! Yeah! [8D]

OK, so in not any real order, I have almost all these artists on LP or 7" singles, or both... (not much digital/mp3s, etc.)

Glad to hear the Scooters being mentioned.........they were not only a great band but also great friends. Sadly, I just found out today that singer/songwriter Robert Ferrero died back in 2003. Could'nt find out any info on the cause of death, but I'm probably sure it had something to do with the diabetes he'd had since childhood. Such a sweetheart and a helluva talent...he will be missed.

It hit me pretty hard as he was a great friend and very dear to my heart despite the fact that we'd drifted out of touch about 10 years ago....lots of tears shed these past few days. Luckily for me, my husband has a firm shoulder to lean on though I'm sure he's dealing with his own thoughts...he knew Robert and the Scooters as well, having worked the sound board for quite a few bands at Madame Wongs whenever he was off from touring. Great band, really wonderful guy blessed with a wonderful voice, a green eyed sparkle and an impish grin that made you take to him straight away.
