The Bangles - The Real World Video!

Postby Frau_Blucher » Wed Jun 29, 2005 2:29 am

I could not believe this was on the Hub. Any of the even remotest fans of the Bangles or just Susanna Hoffs have to check this out. The very young Hoffs is insanely, ludicrously adorable in this video. And it's a great great 60s sound from their fantastic original EP - the first and last Bangles item I ever bought. Do a search a grab it!

I think that's also their original bassist Zalinskas rather than Michael Steele who they picked up from the Runaways.

Sounds cool, but I'm passive and can't find it.

Fun video. Yes, Susanna looks great. Reminds me of an old girlfriend with that haircut. Hot girls playing guitars - how much better can it get? I'd never heard the song before.

One of our older members here had found his 3" CD copy of that original EP, and sent me the songs from it (turns out only 3 songs of the 5 five songs were able to fit on that CD, though). A fourth song turned up on one of their compilations, though, and the fifth song still has yet to see the light of day on CD.

I always thought the Bangles were one of those groups that would just get better and better with each album, and then they released that damned 3rd record and I lost all interest. Talented group, though; I saw them live twice and it's amazing to hear that they harmonize just as well live as they did in the studio.

I just dug my 3"Cd out. What other songs were on the vinyl release, and which one is on a compilation?

YOU have the 3" CD?!!! I've got the vinyl with the following tracklist. I've only had the patiend to rip 1 and 3 but have got to motivate myself to do get a new needle and re-do all of them. And ditto Skinnytie...these guys really broke my heart after their second album.

1. The Real World
2. I'm in Line
3. Want You
4. Mary Street
5. How Is The Air Up There

EVERY single song is great...and I've watched that video like 10 times today! It just so crazy infectious. Big thanks to Bearcatrock for originally hosting it. Ah da memories...

"Want You" seems to be the song missing from a CD. More info on the EP can be found here:

(I'm just impressed that I could provide Schwenko with a website, for once!) [:)]

Is there any truth to the story that Susanna Hoffs cut her studio vocals for 'Eternal Flame' in the buff?
Now THAT's video (if it exists) I wouldn't mind nicking! [;)]

How in the hell did a band with so much talent start out doing such great music, and then end up churning out such crap as "Eternal Flame"?
