I really don't think that Captain Sensible was a big fan of Adam Ant,seeing how he trashes Adam in his song Wot,calling Adam an ugly old bloke and pirate.

The Killers started up with the Bravery. Brandon Flowers said the only reason The Bravery was signed was to capitalize on the success of The Killers (which he's right about, incidentally). Bravery frontman Sam Endicott took exception to that and mocked Brandon Flowers for his "mormon lifestyle".

The fact that Sam Endicott was once in a ska band should'nt be held against him. How many NW acts had long hair/hippie pasts they tried to suppress? Quite a few as I recall (anybody have that photo of John Lydon with his shoulder length Peter Frampton cut? Now that was a hoot!). After all, It's not like an artist drops out of heaven fully formed and ready to go.[8D]

I'd take The Killers over The Bravery any day but I'd take The Arcade Fire and Interpol over both of 'em.

They both capitalise on electroclash and hacks like Ladytron and Franz the same way Coldplay capitalises on Radiohead's and Travis's sound. Personally, I'll take real New Wave over The Killers any day. At first it was a nice little novelty, but I have to skip their songs whenever one resurfaces[B)]

I remember hearing, around the time Technique came out, Robert Smith was going to sue New Order because he claimed All the Way was a blatant ripoff of Just Like Heaven!

On a non new wave note, I also remember Belinda Carlisle was threatened with a lawsuit by Jon Bonjovi because he claimed [i]Heaven is a place on Earth[/i] was a ripoff of [i]Living on a Prayer[/i]. Haha, first of all, I dont hear it, second of all, did she even write that song?

Wasn't there a (possibly media fabricated?) war between EMF and Jesus Jones?

I think the fact that they're both signed to Island Records explains a lot. Nothing like a little fake rivalry to stir interest. Although......the pre-Bravery ska band was named Skabba The Hut which, IMO, gives the Killers every right to slag on them.

Yeah, but pop is basically a teenage market and their audience is teenagers. It gives them a bit of drama to fantasize over (just like all us old farts are remembering the rivalries of NW acts from when WE were teenagers).

I think you meant You give Love A Bad Name which was already a blatant rip off of a Bonnie Tyler song called If You were A Woman & I Was A Man.

The crappy Livin' on a prayer song was a total rip off Bananarama's Venus.
