Oh yeah, I met Mick Hucknal of Simply Red when I worked at Tower Records around 89-91. Not necessarily New Wave, but certainly eighties. I remember seeing the Holding Back The Years video along with Big Country and Talking Heads.

I met U2 in 1981. After a concert, they came back out and chatted with us, signed a few autographs, Adam had a beer, then they jumped into a station wagon and headed back to the hotel. Though they probably don't remember me [;)]
