Cars may tour in 2006 without Ocasek....

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

I've been hearing about this for well over a year now, as a friend of mine works for Fender and is helping the reformed Cars out with their equipment. My friend didn't say anything about Ocasek being a problem but has mentioned that Elliot Easton is "hard to deal with."

Having said that, my old electric now has a tuning peg from Elliot on it, thanks to my friend. [:D]

I've asked him many times who will be replacing Ben Orr but he always says he doesn't know. What I think they should do is just hire a sideman to play bass and have Ric sing Ben's songs, since Ric wrote them anyway. Orr will be sorely missed, absolutely, but I think this would be the most tasteful way to remedy the problem.

Maybe the Cars could do a reality show with the cast offs from the INXS Rockstar show <img src="http://www.cooganphoto.com/invboard/html/emoticons/wink.gif">

Hey Dan, I think thats a great idea! I am a huge INXS fan in addition to the Cars, and I originally didnt like the idea of a reality-type show when INXS said they were going to do it, but I am hooked now! I was distraught that Ty was booted off- think the Cars would like him?LOL!! Anyhow, Ric does not want to do a tour- its been stated too many times- so I think the reality show would be a good idea in this case, because there is alot of ta I never even heard of Todd Rundgren untill now..

IMO, just more proof The Cars are not "New Wave".

Loved the Cars, with Orr tunes being my favorites. (Usually) Have to agree--no Orr-no Cars.
Did see them live back around 80 and was actually dissappointed-somewhat dull on stage.

Wait, stop... I know who can fill in for Benjamin Orr on tour... Rutger Hauer is obviously his twin, seperated at birth.

Benjamin Orr, born September 8, 1947

Thanks Dan for the info! I will remember that for the next... Wow, Rutger does look like Ben Orr- can he sing though? LOL!! You know, Marty on the INXS show looks like a "new-waver"- maybe if he doesnt win, he can lead the Cars :)
