Lots of new wave bands, were known at their beginings with different names-
Warsaw-Joy Division
Easy Cure-Cure
The Doomed-The Damned
Great White Idiot-Doctors of Madness
B-Sides-Monochrome Set
Dead Daughters-Human League
Can you recall any others ''transformed'' bands/artists?

This isn't entirely a different name, but:

The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo = Oingo Boingo

Then, there's
VCLXI - early name of OMD. They also called themselves the Id before OMD.

Athletico Spizz changed their name many times, usually with the cognate "Spizz" in there somewhere: Spizz77, Spizzoil, Spizzenergi.

I see that someone mentioned Spizz. At one time or another, they were all of these names:

Spizz
Spizz '77
Spizzoil
Spizz Energi
Spizz Energi 2
Athletico Spizz '80
The Spizzles
