Agreed. Yeah, intellectually we can analyze it and call if disco, but more importantly, thinking about back in the day, I know that all my friends and I shunned that particular song specifically because it was disco and not new wave, punk or whatever. Like Bob Dole would have said, "I knew, she knew it, we all knew it! Baaaaah!"

Blondie's "Heart of Glass" is a Disco song.
It was originally referred to as "The Disco Song" by the band before they titled it "HoG", after they tried the title "Once I had a Love", which there is a demo of.

I always consider "Heart of Glass" as Blondie's 'take' on disco. You have to remember that at that time alot of rock acts were hauling out their takes on disco (Stones "Miss You", Kiss "I was made for loving you", Rod Stewart "Do ya think i'm sexy").
Of course, Blondie were the only ones who did it right. Original. Maybe because I know that they were Bowery / CBGB's punks who had a genuine interest in the art of dance/black music, it seems so much more valid.

Speaking of Blondie, I'm surprised we all forgot to mention Rapture. I've seen this on many disco compilations. I remember back in the day kicking it to this jam at the roller disco or hearing it on the boom box at the handball court. Of course, this also featured the FIRST female rap. Yup, from a white girl. You go Blondie and rock on with your bad ass self [8D]
