One of the strangest acts of american post punk avant garde scene were Skafish.Basically,named and led by James Skafish,created one of the weirdest amagalms of new wave,neo classic music,operetic vocals and punk edge with the debut album in 1979.Fans of Oingo Boingo and Devo might appreciate it,but who others loved or listened to this molester guy with the terrific voice?

I first heard him on the "urgh a music war" lp (I'll bet the same was true for many). I came across his debut in the used bins probably around 10 years ago and grabbed it. You're right, he is an oddball- - his songs jump around alot.
Why is he a molester guy - is there something about him I don't want to know (I like to think of all new wave artists as upstanding citizens, you know).

I LOVE Skafish. "Joan Fan Club" in particular.
Joan is the girl she waddles in class
I’m gonna stick some thumbtacks in her back
Gonna push her down gonna spray her with mace

She shivers and shakes on Friday night
Gonna egg her house throw some trophies too

Damn ,I have'nt heard that song in years.Yea,I'll have to dig up some Skafish.Very enigmatic artist that did produce some good songs.

Skafish first lp together with the live version of''Sign of the Cross'' from ''Urgh, a music war'' is all you need from them.Their second one''Conversation''is a totally bad and dated synth rock album with only two songs worth listening to.Its a pity, because really don't know, what kind of music they could have written if they hadn't been pushed by IRS to make a normal record.First lp is out to discover it!!

That "Sign Of the Cross" song is really wild. The funniest line: "Do a Genuflection, and maybe you'll get a big erection..."
