About 2 weeks ago I was in San Jose and I saw this band on a recomendation from a friend. I thought they were really cool Granted the whole alien glam thing. But they played these proto punk early 70's 3 chord tricks and one 20 minute prog rock song. Has anyone heard of Zolar X and what do you think of them?

I was turned onto Zolar X about 2 years ago when Alternative Tenticles issued a discography cd. I think the songs that rock are amazing. There are a few typical 70's prog rock songs which leave me dry, but all in all the disc is well worth tracking down, if only for the song Jet Star 19.

Great proto-punk band with nods to Sweet like glam,and Floyd's adventourous guitar lines.I'm deep into them,and some of their songs(the faster)are wonderful.If there was justice,this band could compete with the Ramones,but they only managed to play their last gig supporting Van Halen!

Gotta agree, the reissue on Alternative Tentacles is well worth a listen. There might be one or two songs on there that I skip, but overall, a very cool band.
