This is just someone's recollection, not an actual playlist, but there were some songs I didn't recognize and I thought I'd see if anyone here thought they were worth seeking out.

I've heard of most of them (with the exception of Cellarful Of Noise and Rob Jungklas) and I don't think you're missing much. Ace, Chris Rea, and GTR are far from new wave. Blotto's probably the best of the bunch. I have it, Black and Steel Breeze if you want them.

hex, I haven't heard of any of those. Except for the Assembly, which is one of those obscure NW staples that I never liked.
That list is Cloy's, who is on the NWO from time to time. A few years ago, I sent him my copies of the [i]Wave[/i] magazine (KYYX's mag), which he scanned and mailed back. He had big plans for his KYYX site. It's always cool to see memeories of KYYX in general; lists of artists I've never heard of are also interesting, b/c I just don't recall any of those artists!

Motors is right that a lot of these wouldn't really be considered New Wave--more in the Asia synthy hard rock realm. I don't ever remember them being played on KYYX (I think some songs on the list were released after the demise of the NW format anyway).

The Assembly song I recognized right away--I think I always thought "Never Ever" was Feargal Sharkey on his own or something.[:I]

Kind of an eclectic mix of music there, but I have to admit that I've always loved "How Long" by Ace.

I believe the Assembly song is titled "Never Never". Feargal did a show at Skoochies supporting his solo album back in 84 or 85 and performed the song. My sister had a huge poster he signed hanging from her college apartment wall. Hex always manages to stir up the good memories.

You may have actually heard Ace's "How Long".... that's Paul Carrack's old old band (how many has he been with?). It's now an adult-contemporary radio staple.

"How long.... has this been going on?..."

The Assembly boasted Feargul Sharkey and Vince Clarke as members, and the song is "Never Never".

I'd agree there's alot of stuff I wouldn't consider new wave on that list. Anyone who likes good pop rock from the early 80's should look for the Martin Briley album with "Salt in my Tears"...it's a good one. That track got a fair amount of airplay on early MTV - - you might recognize it upon hearing it.
