Here's a weird category-let's see if people do anything with it-the "new wave" had a lot of what I would call "one great moment" types of things-here's a couple:
The Assembly was supposed to be this great project of different singers and artists and instead we got one great, spectaculary gorgeous song, "Never, Never", which 'tones fan I am-I truly believe Feargal Sharkey was born to sing this one song.
The Plimouls-people here know what a 'souls fan I am-but for me-"A million miles away" said it all and that was it for them.
Do you see where I'm going with this-what-in your estimation from the era was that one great shot?

This statement seems oxymoronic. The second part is certainly not true, and therefore the first part has to be questioned as well. [}:)]

There's nota duff track on the Plimsouls debut LP. In fact I believe "Million Miles Away" isn't that great of a song compared to the rest of their catalog.

Well I certainly didn't mean to cause a ruckus-I am a plimsouls fand even like M. Case's solo career.
What can I say about that song-it was the song that introduced to me to them and by the time I became a fan-their day was done-it is true they were on the verge of breakup when they recorded that album.

To your point though, that type of track for me is The Armory Show's "Castles in Spain". I can't profess to be big fan of them...there's really not that much material to know. But this track is just perfectly crafted; the bass is perfect, the drums are perfect, the vocals are perfect...that great shot or "capture" for them I think.

On the Stiff Records comp called "The last Stiff Compilation", there's a song by A. More called "Judy Get Down"....
I love this song, and to me it's just a perfect moment from a someone who's moment is over by the time the needle plays the last note.
