DJ Craig's assesment is right on: David Bowie is the Godfather of New Wave.
latebar listed the same hit songs I would would have. [i]Fame[/i] is at least five years ahead of its time. [i]Ashes To Ashes[/i] and [i]Fashion[/i] fit in with the best of the early 80's New Wave.
One more thought: I watched one of the discs from my Live Aid DVD and included in David Bowie's backing band was none other than Thomas Dolby!
