No LP, but the first 8-track my parents bought for me was Shaun Cassidy in 1977-ish. Don't recall the title; it seemed to be perhaps a greatest hits deal b/c all the songs were well-known.

When I was a pretty small kid (6 or 7) I had a record player and a bunch of 45s my parents gave me.

One had "The Yellow Rose of Texas" on one side and I think "Oh Where Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone" on the other.

Another one had a couple of Babar songs. One had a catchy tune and the lyrics

"Have you ever lost an elephant?
It's really quite a silly thing to do.
But there's something even sillier
And that is losing two.
And that's what we have done today.
Arthur and Celeste have run away.
Their mothers cry and worry so.
Oh where oh where have our elephants gone?"

If I could get hold of that song again it would really bring back some early childhood memories.

My first 45 was "Get Down" by Gilbert O'Sullivan.

It was a few years after that before I got my first album. I'm thinking it was Kiss or Three Dog Night but I'm not sure.
