99% of the time when a tune gets overplayed to death--it generally makes it a tune you "tune out" on. Every decade has those massively overplayed songs--in the 70's, how many billions of times did I hear " Stairway To Heaven"? Yeah--loved it at first, but by the billionth time it was ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! ( Although I heard it for the first time in ages yesterday and enjoyed it!!!
Anyway--any songs of the new wave era that overplaying actually got you to like a song that you originally did not like? The first song that come to mind for me was REM's Radio Free Europe. What I deemed as a lame song after their knockout Chronic Town EP ever so slowly became a song that I actually liked.
