After seeing The Sound mentioned numerous times in Randy's "Oblivious to..." thread I thought I'd better do some homework, since I'd also been oblivious to their music.

I found a copy of "Shock of the Daylight" EP here:

and gave it a listen. I like this and was wondering if it was representative of the rest of their work. The opinions of those of you who weren't oblivious to them would be greatly appreciated.

I also found Renascent Records website in the UK( http://www.renascent.co.uk/ ) which has:
-Propoganda
-In The Hothouse
-Shock Of Daylight and Heads And Hearts
-Thunder Up

They also state:
1/2/07 - our license with Warner Bros for the 3 Sound albums - Jeopardy, From The Lions Mouth & All Fall Down - has expired and they are now deleted. Warners will be releasing them on the original Korova label later this year. It's been a privilege...

Which of these if any would you recommend? TIA

Missed this thread awhile ago. I haven't yet seen this reissue happen yet. The original reissuer, Renascent, still has some of the titles in stock on their web shop as does Ideal Copy...

But neither has the very classic Jeopardy with Instinct EP bonus tracks, which is what I'd most recommend. Very elemental, very cool. I picked it up awhile ago in a used bin for $10 and now see that it's going for $60-100. [8D]

If anyone hears of the actual Korova reissues, I'd love to know as well. Here was a review article from last year in Popmatters that shares sentiments that I'm sure many here feel. Killer article...

BTW, one of the cooler things about the Jepardy reissue sleeve was this image of a 1980 news article...

Blir, thanks for your input & thanks for the link to the article in PopMatters.

I will definitely let you know if I hear anything in regards to a Warner/Korova reissue. I tried the Warner website & didn't find squat. And the Korova.com site presented as a link in Wikipedia isn't even a website but has merely been "reserved".

Was able since my original post to listen to Jeopardy & elemental is the perfect adjective for it. It has grown on me tremendously. Can't wait for a reissue.

In the mean time may have to spring for the other pricey imports from Ideal Copy. Thanks for that link too by the way. I can't believe I missed that when I did the original Google search.

I have really enjoyed "From The Lions Mouth" since I picked it up from The Ideal Copy last year. Moody, yet anthemic tunes...

Thanks, "From The Lion's Mouth" sounds like something I'll have to pick up once available again. The article Blir linked to above likened it to a slicker, more sonically powerful version of Jeopardy. In fact I just went to Ideal Copy to order it before work today only to find it unavailable.

I hope Warner is still planning a reissue.[?]

I have the "Counting The Days" CD which I believe is a compilation with some live tracks thrown in. Personally I feel the 5 tracks from the Shock Of Daylight EP that are included on that CD are the best. I haven't heard any of their other albums so I don't feel qualified to answer your question.
